The responsibilities of this position include- but are not limited to:
Utilizes basic scientific principles- theories- practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
Collects and enters data- and applies technical principles and theories.
Interprets and records data- conducts analyses- compares findings to relevant studies and local- state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
May be occasionally required to work in hot- cold- and wet conditions and navigate in uneven outdoor terrain.
Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.
BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Ability to identify California fishes and wildlife to species level- specifically Federally and State-listed species (e.g.- Delta Smelt- Longfin Smelt- Chinook Salmon- Steelhead)
Must have knowledge of fish and wildlife ecology and life history strategies
Knowledge and experience with fish sampling methods (e.g.- beach seining- electrofishing)
Must demonstrate the ability to collect representative field samples and data using scientific methods and techniques
Must be able to perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of data
Ability to safely operate a boat in various types of environment both day and night
Must possess a valid Driver`s License
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Experience in Microsoft Excel- Microsoft Access- or other computer programs to enter- summarize- and analyze data
Basic knowledge of GIS software and GPS equipment
